Our Christmas market this year was a little less dramatic than last year! The weather was kind to us and our customers were able to shop without being too cold.
Thank you to the Carol singers for their festive contribution. Heather from Whitely’s Farmshop made us smile with her imaginative Christmas bell decorations made with Brussel sprouts! Well done, Heather. We were also pleased to welcome Birchfield Family Dairy as a guest stall.
A big thank you to Mark Shipway from Cutting Cake Patisserie for his lovely surprise cake for Perfectly Preserved. Mark’s ability to combine skill and creative ideas is gaining him an excellent reputation. If you have a celebration in mind, have a word with Mark about creating something unique and special for you.

Goodbye Jam Stall

We are sorry to announce the retirement from the market
of one of our longest serving suppliers. Perfectly Preserved have delighted us over
the last four years with their jams, chutney and ketchups and we know they are
very popular with our customers. Work and family commitments mean that Ian and
Marylin have decided to retire completely from their preserve business and so
this Saturday is likely to be their last market with us.
Ian and Marylin have been with us on the market since we started and Ian has also
served on the organising committee as a representative of the stallholders. We
would like to thank them both for all they have contributed to the success of
the market and to wish them both well for the future. Pat Urry Oakwood Farmers’

Marylin and Ian would like thank everyone who has supported our market stall at Oakwood Farmers’ Market and other markets over the years, we really appreciated your custom and the chance to meet you.

The 2012 Leaflet with all next years dates is ready to download on the 2012 Leaflet page.
Again we a privalaged to have a local artist design the front cover and I think you will agree that artist Tony Driver has really caught the spirit of the market.

Last years artist for the leaflet Jacky Rough has painted some delightful pictures of scenes in Roundahay Park and these can be purchased as postcards at the City Stationers on Oakwood Parade. You can also view samples of these by clicking here.

What a display we had from our guest stalls at the August Market!
We have been trying to get a local honey stall since we started the market and were delighted to welcome Alwoodley Honey. Not only did they have jars of honey and chewy combs, they also brought with them some frames from the hive and talked to shoppers about the process involved in producing this delicious treat. Stocks of local honey are always limited and so we’re delighted that they have agreed to come along again to our September Market.
The Clucking Hens and chicks were a big hit with the children. If you are interested in keeping your own hens (and having fresh eggs every day) please feel free to speak to Rosie for all the details.
Thank you also to Heirloom Tomatoes , for a magnificent display. Who could have imagined the array of colours and sizes available?
