What a display we had from our guest stalls at the August Market!
We have been trying to get a local honey stall since we started the market and were delighted to welcome Alwoodley Honey. Not only did they have jars of honey and chewy combs, they also brought with them some frames from the hive and talked to shoppers about the process involved in producing this delicious treat.  Stocks of local honey are always limited and so we’re delighted that they have agreed to come along again to our September Market.
The Clucking Hens and chicks were a big hit with the children.  If you are interested in keeping your own hens (and having fresh eggs every day) please feel free to speak to Rosie for all the details.
Thank you also to Heirloom Tomatoes , for a magnificent display.  Who could have imagined the array of colours and sizes available?

So, if this has whetted your appetite, why not look to see who will be our guest stalls for the September Market.

Ever thought of keeping your own chickens?  Clucking Hens can help you make your dream a reality.  Everything you want to know, everything you need and even the hens themselves are supplied by Clucking Hens.  Visit Oakwood Farmers’ Market this Saturday morning to find out more (and see some fab hens!).

In July we welcome back Belleau Smokery, who will be bringing their delicious fresh and smoked trout

Just right with a chilled glass of Rosé!

Congratulations to Bruce Salt and his team at Salt’s Delicatessen who one the best fast food award at the YEP Oliver awards at the Queens Hotel on Saturday the 22nd March.
Well Done.

It was encouraging to read an interesting revue of the March market in Yelp Leeds . Thank you Rowena

Thanks to Foxwood Steel and their fantastic sound, our spirits were high in the wonderful spring sunshine. What a difference to all that snow last month!

We are lucky to have such a talented chocolatier and cake maker in Mark Shipway of Cutting Cake Pattisserie.  Mark, who made us a wonderful birthday cake, also made a chocolate March Hare for our children’s competition.  The cake was fabulous and our shoppers made sure there wasn’t any left by the end of the market.  Our congratulations go to 9 year old Eddie Hunter who won the chocolate March Hare in our 3rd  birthday competition – we don’t think there will be much left of that by now either!

Councillors Ghulam Hussain and Valerie Kendall congratulated REAP and the organising committee, stallholders and – most of all –  the people of Oakwood, on the third birthday of the farmers’ market.

All stallholders at the Oakwood Farmers’ Market are very conscious of the need to re-use packaging whenever possible. Why not ask them what items you can usefully bring back for re-use.

We look forward to hearing from you.

WOW!  Can you believe it – Oakwood Farmers’ Market is 3 years old this month!

To celebrate, we have some special treats for you.

To help banish those winter blues and remind of us of sunshine and warm days ahead, we will have the  Foxwood Steel Band as the soundtrack to our celebrations.  Many of you have requested their return to the market and now seemed like just the right time.

Those of you who are festival goers will be familiar with the fabulous smells and tastes of  Moorish.  Kada Bendaha will be stirring our senses and delighting our palettes with wonderful dishes from his native Algeria.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper celebration without a cake.  And celebration cakes don’t come any better than those made by our own Mark Shipway of Cutting Cake Patisserie.  Mark has promised us a spectacular cake this year – and we’ll be giving away pieces to taste on the day.

For the little ones (or the big kids at heart) Rose will be doing face painting.  So, if you fancy being a butterfly or a lion for the day, don’t be shy – have some fun!

Our other guest stalls apart from Moorish this month will be: -

Thistlemist Farm - Soups
Daisy Bank – Pesto and more
Ashuran Spices - Spice kits
